I Just Don’t Completely Know You is an exploration of my new town Farmville, North Carolina. With a population smaller than my high school, 4,487 to be exact, and stretching a mile big I was confronting a small close-knit town. Experiencing a mixed reaction of excitement for a newer, younger person moving in and a close watch to see if I was a good fit. I needed a barrier between myself and the town as I got to know them. Using an oatmeal pinhole camera and 4x5 color negative film I made long exposures of the Farmville as I found my rhythm in small-town life. In post-processing, I used less developer to experiment with a chemical scrying to see what the town would reveal to me in the dark(room).
